Day Spa Review: Babor at Takashimaya Spa, New York City
The Takashimaya Spa, located on prestigious Fifth Avenue in New York City, offers an unforgettable, exquisite spa experience. Famous for being a high end Japanese store featuring luxurious silk pajamas and orchids, Takashimaya now features a pampering spa.
On the sixth floor, you will find Babor at Takashimaya Spa, which is so privately tucked away it seems like a secret. This clean, compact spa has two treatment rooms and no plan to expand. The products are from the German line Babor and the treatments are delivered with an Asian influence.
One of the most popular treatment at the Takashimaya Spa is the 80 minute Sea Creation facial ($250) that delivers the promise of being an “ocean of luxury” and also boosts cell energy and regenerates your skin for reverse the aging process. Another facial that is good for all skin types is the Babor European facial ($150), which removed surface skin cells and extractions are offered, if you want them, following by facial massage, a nourishing mask and a moisturizer. The glamorous Champagne facial employs a rare yeast used to make champagne and you get some to take home for ongoing treatment. These champagne yeast extracts are combined with Chinese herbs for manicures and pedicures ($35 and $75).You may also want to pamper your hands and feet with a hot stone hand and foot treatment combined with Shiatsu foot and hand massage.
After your spa experience, you can order from the Takashimaya Teabox Cafe and relax with one of 48 different teas. Ahhhhhhh!
