Lomi Lomi is the Hawaiian word for massage, and a Lomo Lomi massage is one you’ll never forget!
Because Hawaiians believe in the iomportance of harmonious energy flow, a Lomi Lomi massage usually begins with a few moments of quiet and stillness after which the massage therapist will say a brief prayer asking for whatever needs to be healed in the client’s body, mind and spirit to be healed during the massage.
Because Lomi Lomi is largely intuitive, there is no set format or sequence for the massage and no two Lomi Lomi massages will ever be identical, except that they will be given using fluid, rhythmic motion that uses the masseur’s or masseuse’s forearms as well as the hands and allows different parts of the body to be massaged at the same time. The therapist may also massage different body parts with each hand.
Many clients describe a Lomi Lomi massage as feeling like waves moving slowly over the body and say that they do indeed experience greater harmony of body, mind and spirit after having received one.
