There is a Big Difference Between a Home Job & a Professional Spa Manicure
Unlike the 15 minute “file your nails and put on a coat of polish” manicure most of us perform on ourselves at home, a professional spa is designed to do much more for your nails than just shape and cover them. For one thing, spa manicures also take into consideration the need to counteract the damaging effects of aging and environmental photo-damage. Many spas incorporate herbal and manufactured exfoliants, vitamins and emollients to attend to the skin of the hands as well.
In most cases, a spa manicure also includes a great massage and a paraffin treatment.
A professional spa manicure begins with removing nail polish and thoroughly cleansing the nails and hands. Then nails soak in a warm water solution designed to loosen cuticles before cuticles are gently pushed back and the nails treated with cuticle remover to remove remaining traces of cuticle on the nail bed itself. Careful nail shaping, followed by careful application of a nourishing and protective base coat and two coats of polish finish off the professional version of a manicure.
Though you probably could do all of this at home, it gets done much better when a manicurist with two free hands does it! Did I mention it is also really relaxing? Just an added perk to perfect nails!
